Your EPSON printer no longer prints and says: Maintenance required?
This problem can be caused by a full waste tank. Inkjet printers generally require the printhead to be flushed to prevent sticking and clogging. In many cases, the user also manually starts print head cleaning or even power cleaning. To flush the print heads, a significant amount of ink is pumped into the so-called waste tank. This is a collection tank for the leftover ink. Due to the design, after several flushes or a long period of use of the printer, the waste tank is full and the printer stops operating. The problem can be solved by a service from Epson or with the WIC Reset Utility.
The WIC Reset Utility can be used to reset the printer’s internal waste tank counter on all common Epson printers. For this you need two things.
- The WIC Reset Utility (free download here)
- A WIC Reset Key (chargeable)
The WIC Reset Key is a software license that is valid once and is necessary to reset the waste tank counter on your Epson device.
